How We Tested

The testing process for the top-rated cordless drills isn’t something that can be done by simply driving screws into material or boring holes in it, as such a test usually yields a twisted performance picture. We’re using a far better method here – a combination of two activities that reflects a day’s work with a cordless drill.

We start by drilling 24 holes with a simple 1-inch spade bit, after which we use the 2-inch screws (12 of them) and drive them into holes bored in a beam.

In the final part of the test, we count how much of the 3-inch drywall screws can a drill drive before its battery is out. In this way, we push each device to its absolute limit!
